Political correctness comes full circle

6 Nov 2009

Update below

So on Memeorandum today, I see a headline that interests me:

Pox or Fox? We Report. You Decide.

And this is attributed to the PBX ombudsman Michael Getler. Well, that's interesting, so I click over there.

Here's the "controversy" in a nutshell: Oscar the Grouch is reporting forGrouch News Network, or GNN, dedicated to news that's "all grouchy, all disgustin', all yucky."

The Titans suck

18 Oct 2009

I think the Tennessee Titans might be the worst team in the NFL.  I've always thought the reverence for Jeff Fisher was a little misplaced.  I mean, the team really hasn't done much of squat in the entire time he's been there, other than almost winng the Super Bowl once.  And as bad as they are this season, he's moving hazardously close to the .500 win percentage (133-108 prior to this currently winless season).

Handling Basic Authentication Dialogs in Watir Tests

15 Oct 2009

I just ran into an issue where I'm creating Watir tests for some of the Web applications at my work.  These applications require basic authentication to access them.  Watir is not really set up to handle basic authentication on its own, since the whole process is sort of an odd bird (and, worth noting, isn't really used on actual secure sites for a number of reasons; our applications are secured with basic authentication in testing environments).

Wolf Blitzer wears blinkers

11 Oct 2009

Of course, it's a truism to say that everyone sees things through the prism of their own concerns.  How can we not? But certainly one of the tasks of a journalist—probably the primary task—is to examine, understand, and present the perspective of others. So since Wolf Blitzer is at least nominally a journalist, his interview this weekend with the Dalai Lama must go into the concerns of the Dalai Lama, ask him for his perspective on recent events in Tibet, ask how the United States should help in discussions with the PRC to advance the cause of human rights in Tibet.

Updating TestDriven.NET NUnit versions

15 Sep 2009

I'm currently evaluating .NET rules engines.  A lot of these are "documented" strictly through their unit tests, most of which are implemented with NUnit.  So I downloaded the most recent version, 2.5.2.9222 as of this writing, and installed that.  But I had forgotten that NUnit does not, by itself, integrate into Visual Studio.  Heavy sigh.  So I downloaded a copy of TestDriven.NET and installed that.
