Observations on Jay Bennett
I think I pretty much agree with everything Ellen Carpenter says in this article. I'm a big fan of the current lineup with Nels Cline and Glenn Kotche, obviously, but there still was something special about the Bennett years. I definitely agree that Bennett helped the band turn the corner on the straightforward "y'allternative" material of A.M., which is a great collection of songs, but not an album in the sense that Being There or especially Summerteeth was.
